Hive Engineering is a San Luis Obispo-based civil engineering firm built around direct involvement from experienced engineers.
We work on projects ranging from straightforward residential permits to custom homes, multifamily developments, commercial sites, and public improvements. Our approach changes with the project: some require close coordination and creative problem solving; others just need a clear set of plans and an efficient path through permitting.
Either way, we focus on practical design, clear communication, and keeping the project moving.

Dan Parker-King, P.E.
Principal Civil Engineer
Dan founded Hive Engineering after building his career on civil and infrastructure projects throughout California. He remains directly involved in Hive’s projects from early site planning and feasibility through permitting and construction.
Stephanie Ledbetter, P.E.
Senior Civil Engineer
Stephanie is a licensed Civil Engineer with extensive experience in civil design and public infrastructure. Her background includes roadway, grading, drainage, stormwater, utilities, ADA improvements, and construction support for projects throughout California.
Ali DePaolis
Business Operations Manager
Ali manages Hive’s day-to-day business operations, including bookkeeping, payroll, benefits administration, and internal coordination. She helps keep the business organized so the engineering team can stay focused on clients and projects.
